This Lalbagh fort is located in Lalbagh thana of the capital Dhaka. This area of ​​Dhaka is known as Old Dhaka. At one time this fort was situated on the bank of Buriganga river in Dhaka. In 1678, when King Abdullah's son Shahjada Muhammad Azam was appointed Subedar of Bengal, that year he started the construction of Lalbagh fort. When the construction of the fort was going on, Shaista Khan's favorite daughter Paribibi's was died.Then Shaista Khan stopped the construction work of the fort, leaving the construction work unfinished. The fort is about 2000 feet east-west and about 800 feet in the north and south. The fort is surrounded by a high wall built of brick. The south wall of the southern wall consists of 5 to 8 corner bases. The towers were designed to be cannons and used for use. The southern part of the Lalbagh fort is very interesting, an archetypal architecture. It was the headquarters of the fort. All the specialties of the mausoleum made in the Mughal period can be seen in this arcade. There is an additional arcade on the north side, which is a smaller arcade. The construction of this arcade was unfinished. Inside the fort there is a large pond built in a square. In the past it was surrounded by brick paved rocks. The past is not present in the pond. At the time of danger, the pond was the only source of water inside the fort. At the end of the British period this fort was used as a police office. There are many tunnels below Lalbagh fort, which are later zamindars Has been done during their period. If the zamindars saw danger, they would have escaped.
