Chehelgazi Mazhar and Mosque

Chehelgazi mosque and mazarar can be seen on the north side of Dinajpur Government College in Dinajpur district city. It is a very old mosque and a shrine. According to an inscription of the mosque, this mosque was built during the reign of Sultan Rukn-ud-din Barbak Shah in 1460 AD. Chehel words mean 40 and Gazi means heroic Muslim warrior. This Chehelgazi mazar is about 56 feet long in a grave. It is known that the name of this mazar is known as Chehel Gazi's Mazar, because 40 veteran Muslim fighters have been buried together here. It is also called the grave of 40 Muslim heroes. It is assumed that in the early Muslim period, the bodies of the soldiers who were killed in a religious war were buried together here.
There is a mosque on the west side of the mazar. It was one domed mosque. The religious building was built in a square. To reach the mosque, there were 3 entrances to the east and one entrance to the north and south. One mihraab was constructed on the west wall. You can see the old Sura mosque at Chargaacha village of Ghoraghat upazila of Dinajpur district. The mosque is also known to many as Shuja Mosque. The mosque is mainly one-domed. However, more than 3 small-domed dome can be seen in the verandah of the mosque. To enter the mosque there are three entrances to the east. The eastern verandah also has entrance doors. There are two gateways to the north and south side of the mosque, in the verandah and main building. Inside the mosque, there are three mihrabs on the western wall. Four minarets can be seen in the 4 corners of the main cell of the mosque. There are also 2 minarets in the corner of the verandah. The terracotta paintings on the walls of the mosque and the mihrabs were of flower, sapling design. It is estimated that during the period of Sultan Hussein Shah, this monumental mosque was built around 1504. ...... read full story

Nayabad Mosque

You can see the ancient mosque named Nayad Mosque at Nayabad in Kahorol upazila of Dinajpur district. The location of this mosque is approximately one and a half kilometers south of the Kantanagar temple. It is a rectangular 3-dome mosque. To reach the mosque, there are 3 entrances on the eastern wall and 1 entrance to the north and south. The religious building has 4 octagonal towers in its 4 corners. The decoration of the building is very pleasing. Various designs of the mosque will impress tourists. It is known that in 1793 the mosque was built. It is believed that the architect and craftsmen who came from Persia for the Kantagui Temple in Dinajpur built this mosque. Recently, the mosque has the touch of Persian art. The Patrail Mosque is located in Patrail village of Azimnagar union under Bhanga upazila of Faridpur district. It is also known to many as Awliya Mosque. There is a huge dighi beside the mosque, this is the patrerail dighi. This place is locally known as Dighir Par, because of the dighi beside the mosque. This ancient mosque has a 10-dome mosque built in 2 row. The walls are too thick; It is about 7 feet. There are five gateways on the east side and two entrances to the north and south to enter the mosque. On the western wall there are 5 mihrabs. The mihrabs are decorated with beautiful craftsmanship. The exterior wall of the mosque also has terracotta artwork. There are 4 pillars made of stone in the inner room of the mosque.
There is a shrine near the mosque. It is an Awliya mazar called Majlis Awaliya. The mosque is more familiar to the locals as 'Majlish Awalier Mosque' due to the Awliya's shrine near the mosque. There is a stone with the mazar, where many of the Hindu-Muslims have vowed to pour milk. They believe that if they pour milk on the stone, they will fulfill their wishes due to Awliya.
