The historic Sonargaon, about 25 kilometers away from the capital Dhaka and about 11 kilometers east of Narayanganj district headquarters. This historic area was once capital city. It was once a well-known business center because the area was also quite convenient for geographical trade. This Sonargaon was once the world's most perfect and smooth textile muslin production center. The muslin was so light and smooth that if the fabric of one hundred yards of muslin was wrapped around the head, hair should be seen. One pound yarn could be expanded up to 160 miles. At present, a muslin cloth has been preserved in the National Museum in Shahbag, capital of Dhaka for exhibition. When the British started cultivating blue in this country, forced to stop producing muslin cloth. Sonargaon was also the main center of the blue trade. In 1346, the world famous tourist Moroccan resident Ibn Battuta came here first.
